BOOK SYNOPSIS
New York Times bestselling author Susan Squires invites you into the world of two lovers who share a seductive past and a dangerous desire…
DIVIDED BY CENTURIES
Contessa Donnatella di Poliziano has power, beauty, and—as a vampire—eternal life. Her overwhelming regret is a mistake she made centuries ago when she chose not to transform her one true love, Jergan, into a vampire too. Donnatella’s choice has deprived her of the only true love she’s ever known. But just as all seems lost, the discovery of a 300-year-old note leads her to a gift left by her old friend, Leonardo da Vinci: a machine to take her back in time to rewrite the history of her heart…
UNITED BY OTHERWORLDLY DESIRE
Once back in time, Donnatella’s memory of the intervening years is lost. Yet when she sees the breathtaking barbarian slave, Jergan, from afar, she feels like she has always known him. The instant attraction she feels draws them together. For Donnatella, the romance is tantalizing, awakening a passion that feels both old and new. But as the two fall in love again, a new danger threatens to tear them apart. Now Jergan’s love for Donnatella will be tested in a most perilous way—and if he fails, the two lovers will be separated again…for eternity.

EXCERPT
“Let me get your property, my lady,” the trader said. They turned to the back of the stall. Three men clustered round the straining barbarian, laughing as he tried to twist away. Blood dripped from his wrists where he had pulled against his shackles. He spat at them. It was his only means of defiance.

Graccus wiped his face and laughed. “Oh, he’ll be a joy to break.”

“I agree,” she said. The three yanked their gazes up, as did the barbarian. He flushed in shame. “Now unhand my new slave, sirs, so I may begin.”

“What? But I am buying him for my brothel!”

She waved the receipt scroll. “Too late.” Her She turned to the trader. “For the price I just paid, you can throw in a pair of shackles.” The trader nodded and clapped his hands. Slaves appeared with the required bindings. They unlocked the barbarian’s wrists from the poles and chained them behind his back before they released his feet. His ankles, too, were bloodied. Those green eyes stared at her, burning with intensity, as though he was still not sure what had just happened to him. Excitement churned inside her. This was the start of something—she didn’t know quite what. “Come quietly, slave,” she ordered, putting all the force of her personality behind her words, just shy of raising her Companion for compulsion. “You two—see that he does.” Two of Titus’s bodyguards nodded. Each took one of the slave’s arms and dragged him forward.

“You knew I wanted him,” Graccus was saying. The trader only shrugged. He couldn’t have gotten two thousand dinars for a slave bound for a brothel.

They pushed into the market throng. “There you are,” Titus called, hurrying over. Livia saw him frown as he registered the barbarian. “Livia Quintus, what is this? You’ve never purchased this creature!”

“I have, Titus. He was a soldier, therefore skilled in martial arts. He even speaks Latin. He’ll be a perfect bodyguard.”

“Livia, return him at once. This is no slave for a woman.”

Livia turned to her new purchase, seeing him through Titus’s eyes. Bloody and sweating, he looked fierce, with those intense green eyes and all that hair. But he was the one she wanted. She knew that as certainly as she knew her own name. “Once we clean him up you won’t recognize him.”

“He needs more than a bath to make him suitable.”

“You were the one who suggested a bodyguard slave, and now that I’ve meekly done as you ask, you rail at me.”

Titus rolled his eyes. “Meek? I would welcome meek.” Livia gestured her entourage forward. Titus sighed and fell in step. “I just hope you haven’t bitten off more than you can chew.”

AUTHOR – Bonnie Edwards
GENRE – Erotic Romance

LENGTH (Pages/# Words) – 30K
COVER ARTIST – Eva Natsumi

BOOK SYNOPSIS
In this erotically charged novella Kat Hardee becomes involved in the bet of her lifetime…

Being young, divorced, broke and in college, has made Kat leery of putting herself in the path of the next great guy. But she’s crushed on her neighbor, Taye Connors, since he moved in and would love nothing more than to catch his eye.

But her man-hungry girlfriend has also suddenly set her sights on him.

Rather than lose her chance with quiet, nerdy Taye, Kat accepts the challenge to get him naked. This weekend!

To save him from her predatory friend, shy and skittish Kat must seduce the one and only man she’s interested in.

Taye Connors wants to make up for lost time with his sweet next-door neighbor. He’s a man who takes his time and wants nothing more than a real and loving relationship. In fact, he insists on it.

But when innocent Kat turns into a vixen who sells sex toys wearing too-hot-handle thigh high stockings, he has to wonder what he’s in for: A sex kitten or his one true soulmate.

After a series of missteps and miscommunication, Kat and Taye come to terms with who they really are and what they want for themselves and each other.

EXCERPT
Taye climbed out of his SUV and headed to the door of his town house, briefcase in hand. He bent and picked up a package left on his front step. Wrapped in cozy brown cords, he had a great butt, even from this distance, and Kat found several ways a day to see it. From her back upstairs window she’d watch him put out bird seed. Through his tiny kitchen window she’d catch glimpses of him making dinner.
“He’s not a nerd,” Kat said in his defense. “I’m willing to bet under that tweed jacket is a lot of man.”
“You think?” Celia assessed him with her man-hungry eyes.
Kat shifted. A second mistake. Taye’s physique was not up for discussion, not with Celia. She was a shark when it came to getting what she wanted.

Suddenly he knew exactly what the next few minutes would bring. They find the first body slumped against the wall of one of the outer buildings. The young man, little more than a boy, is propped up at an awkward angle, his face frozen into an expression filled with so much fear that it was difficult to look at him.

And then there was more.

More bodies, more blood, more horror than Ryder can take in. He feels sick to his stomach and, for a few moments, he is a teenage boy again picking through the dead carcasses that had littered the Kelly compound.

He shakes his head, trying to bring his focus back to the present.

Bodies litter the streets and hang over thresholds. He blinks the sweat running into his eyes away, trying not to dwell on the death that surrounds him. He couldn’t think about the awfulness, about the fact that most of the dead were so young.

They break into the square, yet by then Ryder had known what they would find. Val swears and when Ryder looks across at him it is to find that his sardonic, ever smug half-brother looks like he is going to be sick.

“What the… how the hell did they do this?” Val splutters, lifting his hand to his head and looking around wildly. “How did the Lewises manage to do this? We were right here for goodness sake! How did we not know this was happening?”

Ryder doesn’t answer him. He had no answers, just the sickness that rolled around his stomach. Beside him Connell turns and vomits on to the ground. Ryder isn’t surprised to see one of the hard-bitten Andak soldiers displaying such weakness. He was pretty close to joining him in heaving out the contents of his own stomach. Out of the corner of his eye he catches sight of a movement and lifts his gun warningly. Ian sits in the dust outside one of the hovels the Brownelys called homes. It takes Ryder a
minute to realise that it was Ian’s house, the same one he had seen him standing in the doorway of yesterday.

He moves forward, ready to offer assistance. It wasn’t until he was much closer that he became aware of the fact that Ian clutched a lifeless body in his arms.

AUTHOR BIO
Hi everyone,
My name is DeeDee and I live in a beautiful part of Devon, England, with my family. I’ve always loved to read, and I’ve never been picky about which genre I read in. I’m just as happy curled up with a regency romance as I am with a dystopian adventure.

When I first wrote Broken City I had no idea that it would turn in to a series, but Deeta’s story begged to be told. So the stand alone Broken City became a trilogy, and now I know there will be a forth book as well.

I also write in other genres, I have a series of contemporary comedic short stores (The Claire series). I also have a historical romance series (The Lady Quill Chronicles), and a dystopian adventure series (The Chronicles of Discord).

I really hope that you enjoy reading my stories as much as I enjoy writing them!

He pinned her back up against the wall, anger blazing in his eyes. The corner of his lip curled and his forehead wrinkled. “The spoiled little rich girl wants attention by trashing her room.” He yanked down his zipper. “Well, now she’s got it.”

Jack was up in her face when Beverly’s hands slapped against the sheet rock, seeking purchase as he kneed open her legs. Her feet left the floor and she braced her legs around his waist when he forced his
thighs underneath hers. He slammed his cock in her slit, the force making her pussy burn and spasm from the delectable shock.

The muscles in Jack’s arms corded as he reached around and spread her ass cheeks as wide as they would go. Beverly’s eyes nearly rolled to the back of her head with the chafing of his jeans against her, and his denim covered skin on hers fired new pleasure receptors to life. She never considered that area an erogenous zone.

Beverly had never considered a lot of things until Jack introduced them.

Her eyes jarred in their sockets and her spine jolted with the furious pounding of her body against his thighs. The dry friction rubbing against her clit and Jack’s heated breath was a cocktail strong enough to push her across the finish line. His sun browned skin was reddening, pulling taut over his cheekbones. Beverly wondered if she looked as crazy as he did. She laid her head against her shoulders and dug her fingernails into his shoulders, as he wrecked her in the way she always wanted.

“Wow, Cop. You’re really uncomfortable right now, aren’t you?”
He shook his head even as his lips refused to shape a lie and deny it. “After the Plethora incident, I was worried about you.”
Ryker’s stare was too knowing. It did nothing to abate Grady’s anger. “Do you make a lot of late night house calls like this one?”
“No.” Fuck. Even Grady heard the desire in his voice. What the ever-living fuck was he doing here? Ryker took a step toward him. Grady’s brain screamed for him to step back. His feet refused. In their defense, they were probably listening to his dick. It was closer after all, and hard as steel.
“What a mess you’re creating for yourself right now, Cop. You’re as straight as they come.” Obviously, Grady was experiencing some fucked up form of tongue paralysis. He couldn’t speak.
Ryker shifted even closer until barely an inch separated them. He hadn’t realized until that moment how much taller Ryker stood. Grady had to tilt his head back to hold the other man’s gaze.
“Now’s the time to chime in,” Ryker said, taunting him. The roaring need to do something, anything, rose up and overtook Grady’s brain before taking control of his body. Without his permission, Grady’s fingers gripped Ryker’s T-shirt and tugged.
Ryker didn’t obey. He didn’t budge a single inch. Instead, he held Grady’s stare as he slowly lowered his head, forcing Grady to acknowledge what was about to happen. He wanted to run away. God only knew how much he didn’t want this, except he did, and he couldn’t stop. When Ryker’s lips finally met his, Grady sucked in a deep breath. The room spun, making him realize it was the first true gulp of air he’d taken in since his knuckles brushed the wood of Ryker’s front door. With his eyes closed, his mind steadied. As Ryker’s tongue swiped Grady’s bottom lip, he forgot everything, including his inhibitions. Not who he was kissing. Grady was incapable of forgetting that detail. Ryker was too freaking amazing. The brush of lips on lips was gentle until Grady let Ryker in. His back hit the door as Ryker’s fingers dug into his jaw, holding him in place, and consuming him. There were kisses, and then there was whatever this was.
“You’ll regret me,” Ryker promised as he pulled away before attacking Grady from a different angle.
“No,” Grady said against his mouth, recognizing the truth. Maybe this wasn’t his life, but it was his moment. He’d wanted no other man before Ryker, but he did want Ryker.
Ryker’s mouth moved to Grady’s throat. “I’ll regret you.”

Everyone else in the room hung on her words, the men wanting something they could use to jibe him, the women hoping for something that said he would be theirs. But she couldn’t make out the story the cards told. She didn’t have any words, only an ache in her head and a feeling of... dislocation, as though she were looking at herself from far away.
Yet words came.
“You have seen blood, rivers of it, in a desert.” She blinked. The room began to swirl, the colors of the crowd melting together. “Blood you brought forth through extraordinary heroism in a cause you believed was just.” She stood. The table toppled. Surprised, she glanced down to see the cards scattering very slowly to the floor. But the crowd behind them was spinning faster. “It has left you wandering in your soul, impotent. Evil is around you even now, and may still win out.” Her voice did not seem to be her own. “Many trials are ahead. Thievery will be involved. I see a stone, an emerald. Your arrogance can still be tempered into wisdom by your trials.” She had a sensation of falling, and yet she knew she stood, looking up at him. He too stood, staring in fascinated horror. “Love can transform you.” She gazed up into those green eyes and the room receded entirely.
The green of his eyes turned into the green of a stone.
It was an emerald, as big as half her fist. It glowed in darkness. A woman’s hand with long nails held it with a pair of silver tongs. The glow of the emerald cast refracted green light on the rough stone walls and floor of a cramped room. He was there: the arrogant, beautiful one. He was naked and chained to the wall. His pale skin stood out against the dark stone on which he lay. “You are mine,” the woman said “The jewel will give you to me.” Fear shone in the man’s eyes. The woman came closer, touched the flesh of his chest with the stone. He arched and groaned. The glow brightened until it lit the cell with a blinding green light. The woman’s laughter echoed crazily back from the rock walls.
And then nothing. The stone cell vanished. Kate took one breath, and collapsed.

CHILDREN OF THE PROGRAM

ABOUT THE BOOK

A murderous cult threatens the enlightenment of tomorrow, as 12 strangers, plucked from various parts of the world, are awakened and brought together by a divine calling. The chosen ones, selected for The Program, are sent on a mission to expand human consciousness, by finding the true meaning of love. This quixotic narrative is turned on its head when the lines of divinity and anarchy are blurred, intertwining reality with fiction. It's up to the reader to decide where the truth lies. The Program is due to reset, but not before their story is told.

REVIEW

Children of the Program introduces us to twelve people who have been selected to participate in "The Program", which is attempting, through an evolutionary process, to save humanity. But, what happens when one of those members doesn't want to play nice? If you are a logophile, or someone who loves words, then you'll love the authors writing! I'll admit, there were a few words I didn't know or haven't heard before and used my dictionary app to look up. The author's charm exudes throughout, there's a sentence at the end that fits perfectly with his writing:

"I'm a writer, with a quirky outlook on life and a playful working knowledge of the English language -- that's it."

What I really like about this read were the different characters and their perspectives. Although at times you can tell that it was still a singular voice in some cases, instead of the different characters, but never distracts from the overall story. There is a great ebb and flow from one character to the next that keeps you interested and wanting to know more. A lot of readers complain about dream sequences or too many shifts in the story, while both are included, I thoroughly enjoyed this process. It keeps you on your toes! Another aspect I loved was that toward the end, you believe the main protagonist that has been the singular voice is the actual person that has written the book, which ties it all up nicely. Children of the Program really drew me in and I wanted more.

THE EVOLUTION OF A PSYCHOPATH EMERGES

I've never read occult books before, so I really appreciated the process of one of the characters that develops into a much darker role. We see him, after a certain event, he spirals and makes certain choices that are quite shocking. It's another aspect of the story that I really enjoyed reading. But, I have to say that parts of the book were unsettling to me. Which is okay too, right? It adds to the overall emotional journey. I don't want to give anything away, so I won't divulge what tore my heart out, but when you read it you'll understand.

Some reads are what I call "mindless"; you can read through them with ease and can finish them rather quickly. However, I would categorize this as an intelligent dystopian, that you want to take your time with; just like with a mouth watering dessert, you want to savor each bite. It's carefully constructed and at times reads like a strategic poem to capture your very soul. Which is understandable since the author is also a lyricist.

Overall, this is a must read. I would highly recommend this book and I look forward to future compositions from the author. Which, I am happy to share he has started the beginning process of the sequel, so make sure to follow the links below to keep updated and informed on any future prospects.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

In a Nutshell: My rock n' roll dream started when I was about 16-years-young. After releasing 13 full length albums, under various monikers and aliases, I wanted to expand my creative horizons and solder some of my manic metal musical musing with a fictional book. Years of scribing out lyrics, like a lawn gnome on a mushroom, made me quite versed in the art of word play and how to communicate through writing -- yes, my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek.
For those of you who don't know me, I can assure you, I won't allow myself to be taken too seriously. I love sea lions, rock n' roll, fall weather and suds with my friends -- oh, and a good story!
I attended Towson University and emerged with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. Again, writing. So, to this day, I continue to tell the tale of a conflicted and often tortured spirit, bound by the conventions of a hypnotized society, longing to fly, but often settling for McDonald's french fries and a hot fudge sundae and content to forget it all.
Children of the Program is my wings. I hope to someday find the courage to leave some of my hang-ups in a very dark place, maybe even a closet [sorry] - never to be opened again.
For now, this is my Ark.
Love,
Brad W. Cox
